Lifelong Kindergarten

I just finished a very interesting book called Lifelong Kindergarten by Mitchell Resnick. Having previously written about the importance of autonomy and Teaching for Artistic Behavior in the classroom, this book fits nicely in supporting child-centered education. Resnick, a professor at MIT, is a firm believer that education is moving in the wrong direction and that we should be looking at how Kindergarten is thought. (The old way, the way it should be)  This book is geared toward the maker movement but supports many ideas that would be useful in a regular class or the art room. The main thoughts presented surround what Resnick calls the 4 P’s: Projects, Passion, Peers and Play. The book is a short read and I would recommend it to anyone looking at moving toward a student led classroom.
